Please ensure the foreign national’s address confirmation is reported accurately

As international travel becomes more flexible and convenient across the world, countries are placing greater emphasis on the preliminary inspection and screening of foreign nationals crossing borders. Registration and monitoring are now being managed through technological advancements and electronic systems.

For example, in Singapore, foreign travelers are required to submit detailed information online three days in advance to obtain the SGAC (Singapore Arrival Card) electronic pre-approval. Meanwhile, France organizes the registration and monitoring of foreign nationals through integrated systems such as the Schengen Information System (SIS) and the Visa Information System (VIS).

The Immigration Agency of Mongolia has started verifying the address of stay of foreign nationals when applying for a visa or visa permit, in accordance with international standards and best practices, effective from February 3, 2025, to improve the registration and monitoring of foreign nationals.

The verification of a foreign national’s address can be done through the following four options:

  1. Hotel booking confirmation,
  2. Verified residential address with supporting documents from the accommodation provider.
  3. For tourists: An official letter from the travel agency detailing the itinerary and locations of stay.
  4. For foreign nationals working in rural areas: An official letter from the inviting organization confirming the accommodation address.

Recently, there has been a rise in submissions that include false address verifications. These include submitting order forms without official stamps or seals, altering the date on the forms, using the same document for multiple applications, and presenting expired rental agreements. For instance, just last week, 25 valid visas were revoked after it was confirmed that falsified address information had been used.

Address verification is vital for ensuring the safety of foreign nationals and for preventing potential risks. We therefore strongly advise foreign nationals, inviting individuals, and business entities to accurately and completely fill out the address verification section when applying for a visa or visa approval, and to submit all required supporting documents.

Please note that failure to comply with these requirements or the submission of false address information will result in the denial of visa or visa permit applications or the cancellation of already issued visas.
